Christy Hengst
Christy Hengstʼs porcelain birds have landed in over sixty public locations internationally; forty of them have now migrated to Plinth Gallery for our first installation. The birds carry images and text, silk-screened and high-fired, in cobalt blue -- recipes, love letters, newspaper articles, photographs, drawings, poetry -- dealing with a wide range of human experience. The pieces are handbuilt, and each is different in form and content. People can choose intuitively which bird or birds are right for them. This work is suitable for outdoor installation as well as indoor display, and there are several interesting mounting options.
